2015 Art is... LAYERS OF TIME

The 2015 Art is... Festival embraced its second year of our three year theme 'Layers of Time'. The program reflected the Artistic Vision and explored celebrations, ceremonies and personal rituals that we share in our diverse community and 'what makes us, us'.
Over ten days the program included a total of 47 events full of exhibition openings, live music, cultural walks, author and artists talks, markets, a burlesque, a cabaret show, public workshops, the Queen's birthday party and to finish a celebration dinner at Deidre's.
Highlights include Culti-vat, a completely transformed, disused building in the central city. An old car garage became a series of visual art exhibitions, interactive installations, a giant teapot and performances such as Toast Reading, weather conversations, a shadow story book performance in an inflatable black room and Seed Bank Scientists. The collective energy gathered throughout the week of the festival moved towards the Culti-vat Debutante Ball, a collaboration between Scott Wright from Erth and local Debutante legend Jan Morris. The evening was a celebration of culture, art and puppets.
