2007 Art is... EVERYWHERE

.....................................................................................

Festival Manager: Leanne Corkram

In 2007, Art is... everywhere was held from 23 - 31 March. This years' major festival project was Common Ground, a project originated by Regional Arts Victoria and developed with four regional Victorian festivals. This project sought to work within regional Victorians to establish a collaborative partnership between international artists and local artists and communities. Indonesian artist Eko Prawato visited with Jill McLeod and Anna Loewendahl to develop Up Stix, a performance installation sited at Sawyer Park.

Another major project during this years' festival was the FReeZACentral Regional Tour. FReeZACentral is a youth mentor program for the music industry. Young people from all over Victoria organised an all ages concert held on the opening night of the festival at Sawyer Park, although the weather was wet and cold, all those who attended had the great privilege of listening to some fantastic live music from Melbourne based musicians and new local talent.

The 2007 festival also saw the development of two new ute based projects; the absol...UTE Show and The Loaded Ute theatre stage. The absol...UTE Show demonstrated the passion that members of our community have for the humble utility. The Loaded Ute theatre sought to bring short music and theatre performances to the streets of Horsham at unexpected moments and at unexpected times.

The Festival Club provided festival goers with live music and food each weekday evening, as well as place to meet before going to the theatre, or after a Grey Matters discussion about issues which are neither black nor white. This was a well supported and appreciated part of the festival.
